Netanyahu postpones India visit again as Delhi blast raises security concerns

Jerusalem: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has postponed his planned visit to India for the third time this year, amid concerns that the recent blast in Delhi has created an uncertain security situation. The visit was expected to take place in December, but fresh dates are now being discussed between the two governments.

The decision comes soon after a deadly explosion near the Red Fort metro station on November 10 that killed at least fifteen people and injured several others. The attack has been treated as an act of terrorism, and investigations are still underway. Following the incident, Netanyahu expressed condolences to India, saying that terror may strike cities but will never shake the spirit of the people.

Reports from Israeli media suggested that the security environment after the Delhi blast played a major role in the postponement. However, Indian government officials have pushed back against these claims. They said it is misleading to link the delay directly to the explosion, adding that discussions on scheduling were already underway.

This is the third time in 2025 that Netanyahu’s trip to India has been delayed. Both countries have maintained a strong partnership in defence, technology and trade, and a high level visit has been seen as an important step in strengthening that cooperation. Officials on both sides are now working to identify suitable dates for the visit.

Despite the uncertainty, both governments have stressed that their relationship remains strong. Israel is expected to propose new dates soon, and New Delhi has said it remains committed to hosting the Israeli leader once the schedule is finalised.
