Russian Missile and Drone Barrage on Kyiv Kills at Least Four, Officials Say

Kyiv: A devastating overnight assault by Russian forces has struck Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, as missile and drone attacks claimed at least four lives, according to Tymur Tkachenko, the head of Kyiv’s military administration.

In a strongly worded statement, Tkachenko described the strikes as “cynical terror,” accusing Moscow of intentionally targeting civilian housing and critical infrastructure. He also confirmed that seven more people were wounded as a result of the bombardment.

The attack reportedly triggered fires in residential buildings across the city, prompting emergency responders to rush to multiple sites. Debris from downed drones reportedly scattered across districts, heightening fears and damage to the built-up neighborhoods.

Beyond the immediate human toll, the strikes disrupted vital services: electricity flickered or failed in many areas, and water supplies were interrupted, adding to the crisis as Kyiv residents contend with the fallout.

The scale and precision of this strike have raised alarm about Moscow’s strategic intent. By targeting civilian infrastructure, Ukraine’s leadership says Russia aims to sow fear and undermine morale.

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, in his response, renewed calls for stronger international air defense support, warning that Ukraine cannot withstand such attacks without sustained external help.

As the city recovers from the damage, officials and citizens alike are bracing for further waves of violence, underscoring the heavy toll the war continues to take on everyday life in Ukraine.
