Pope Leo XIV urges Lebanese people to hold on to hope and unity

Beirut : Pope Leo XIV has called on the people of Lebanon to stay strong and united as the country continues to face political tension economic hardship and fears of renewed conflict. Speaking during his visit to the Presidential Palace in Baabda the Pope said Lebanon must remain a country of peace dialogue and coexistence.

He praised the resilience of the Lebanese people describing them as a nation that has suffered deeply but continues to move forward with courage. He reminded leaders that peace is not only a political responsibility but a moral duty that requires patience honesty and a willingness to listen.

Lebanon has been struggling with an economic collapse and political disagreements alongside growing security concerns following recent cross border tensions and airstrikes in parts of the country. Many Lebanese view the Pope’s presence as a sign of support during a difficult time.

During his address the Pope spoke directly to young people civil society groups and families urging them not to lose hope. He said their role in building the future of the country was essential and encouraged them to continue working for reconciliation and the common good.
