Air Ambulance Arranged as Former PM Khaleda Zia Set to Be Shifted to London for Advanced Treatment

Dhaka: Former Bangladesh Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, aged 80, is set to be flown to London for specialised medical care as her health condition remains critical. Her personal physician, Dr. Zahid Hussain, confirmed that the medical board supervising her treatment reached the decision on Thursday, citing the need for advanced facilities abroad.

Qatar has offered an air ambulance to facilitate her immediate transfer. As part of the preparation, an air force helicopter landed near the Dhaka hospital on Thursday to conduct a preliminary medical assessment and coordinate logistics for the transfer.

Khaleda Zia is expected to depart on Friday, pending final medical clearance. She has been undergoing treatment since her admission on the 23rd of last month due to a severe chest infection. The move to London comes amid growing concerns from her medical team, who believe specialised intervention is urgently required to stabilize her condition.
