Eluru: The Diocese of Eluru marked a moment of pride and celebration by formally felicitating District and Sessions Judge Dunna Ramulu following his successful completion of a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam. The diocesan leadership described the achievement as a significant honour not only for the local Church but also for the broader legal community in Andhra Pradesh.
Judge Ramulu earned his doctorate with a research thesis titled “Constitutional Morality under the Constitution of India – A Critical Study,” a scholarly work that examines the foundational values embedded in India’s constitutional framework. His study offers an in-depth analysis of principles such as justice, equality, human dignity and the rule of law, and has been acknowledged for its relevance and contribution to contemporary constitutional discourse.
Beyond his academic pursuits, Judge Ramulu is widely respected for his professional service and ethical commitment within the legal fraternity. Over the years, he has extended consistent legal guidance and support to the Diocese of Eluru and several other dioceses across Andhra Pradesh, assisting them in institutional and administrative matters with clarity, integrity and a strong sense of responsibility.
The felicitation ceremony was led by Bishop Jaya Rao Polimera of Eluru, who congratulated Judge Ramulu on his academic accomplishment and expressed deep appreciation for his continued service to the Church and society. The Bishop noted that such achievements reflect the vital role Catholic lay professionals can play in shaping public life while remaining rooted in faith and moral values.
Diocesan representatives also underscored the importance of having a senior Catholic jurist contributing to legal scholarship at the national level. They observed that Judge Ramulu’s work stands as an inspiration to young professionals, demonstrating how academic excellence, professional competence and service to the community can go hand in hand.
The recognition concluded with expressions of gratitude and pride from clergy and lay leaders alike, who hailed Judge Ramulu’s doctoral achievement as a milestone that strengthens the Church’s engagement with issues of law, justice and constitutional values in contemporary India.
