Christmas celebration in New Delhi draws national leaders and church heads

New Delhi: A Christmas celebration held in the national capital became a notable gathering with the presence of national political leaders and senior heads of various Christian churches. The event was organised in New Delhi under the leadership of Members of Parliament belonging to the Christian MPs Forum.

The celebration was led by Anto Antony MP, chairman of the Christian MPs Forum in Parliament, and vice chairman P. Wilson MP. The programme was held at the Delhi Gymkhana Club and was inaugurated by Priyanka Gandhi MP.

Several chief ministers and senior political leaders attended the event. Among them were Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, and senior leaders including T. R. Baalu, K. C. Venugopal, Shashi Tharoor, Manu Abhishek Singhvi, Tariq Anwar, Kumari Selja, Supriya Sule, and B. K. Hariprasad.

The celebration also witnessed the participation of prominent church leaders from different Christian denominations. Archbishops Mar Kuriakose Bharanikulangara and Dr Anil Kotto, bishops Mar Jose Puthenveettil, Joseph Mar Barnabas, Geevarghese Mar Julios, Yuhanon Mar Dimitrios, and Paul Swarup, along with religious leader Paul Dhinakaran, were present.

Several Members of Parliament from Kerala and other states also joined the celebration. These included Adoor Prakash, N. K. Premachandran, E. T. Mohammed Basheer, Francis George, Benny Behanan, Rajmohan Unnithan, Abdussamad Samadani, Dean Kuriakose, Hibi Eden, Haris Beeran, P. Santhosh Kumar, Shafi Parambil, and Jebi Mather.

Senior officials and representatives from church and cultural organisations also attended. Among them were Sibi George, Secretary West in the Ministry of External Affairs, Dr Mathew Koickal, Deputy Secretary General of the Catholic Bishops Conference of India, Dr Roby Kannanchira, Director of the Chavara Cultural Centre, and Manu Vettickal, Director in the Union Finance Ministry.

The celebration reflected the true spirit of Christmas through fellowship and unity, bringing together leaders from politics, the Church, and civil society with a shared message of peace, harmony, and goodwill.
