Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Congress M chairman Jose K Mani has firmly ruled out any possibility of his party leaving the Left Democratic Front and assured Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan that the party remains committed to the ruling front.
Speaking after meeting the chief minister in Thiruvananthapuram, Jose K Mani said recent media reports suggesting a possible shift towards the United Democratic Front were baseless. He made it clear that Kerala Congress M has no intention of changing sides and will continue to stand with the Left Democratic Front.
Jose K Mani acknowledged that the party faced challenges in the recent local body elections, particularly in parts of central Kerala. However, he expressed confidence that these setbacks are temporary and said the party is already working to regain its strength in the region. He added that central Kerala has been a traditional base for Kerala Congress M and that the party will return there with renewed organisational efforts.
He also said that the performance in local elections should not be viewed in isolation and that the party still enjoys strong grassroots support. According to him, organisational restructuring and closer engagement with voters will help Kerala Congress M improve its position in the coming months.
The remarks come at a time when speculation has grown about possible political realignments in Kerala following the local body election results, in which the United Democratic Front made noticeable gains in several areas. Some sections within the opposition camp have openly discussed the possibility of expanding their alliance by reaching out to parties currently aligned with the LDF.
Despite this political chatter, Jose K Mani reiterated that Kerala Congress M’s path is clear. He said the party’s future lies within the Left Democratic Front and that it will continue to support the government and its policies.
Political observers see the statement as an attempt to put an end to rumours of internal uncertainty and to send a clear message of unity within the LDF. With assembly elections on the horizon, the coming months are expected to see intensified efforts by all major fronts to consolidate their bases and strengthen alliances across Kerala.
