Irinjalakuda Diocese Observes National Minority Rights Day, Gold Medals Presented to Honorees

Irinjalakuda: The Irinjalakuda Diocese marked National Minority Rights Day with a special public programme organized by the Christian Minority Rights Forum, highlighting the importance of constitutional protections and social justice for minority communities.

During the event, Bishop of Irinjalakuda, His Excellency Mar Pauly Kannookadan, along with Catholic Congress Global President, Professor Rajeev Kochuparampil, jointly conferred gold medals on select individuals in recognition of their commitment to minority rights and community service.

Addressing the gathering, Church leaders and forum representatives underlined the need to safeguard democratic values, promote harmony among communities, and remain vigilant in protecting the rights guaranteed to minorities under the Constitution. Speakers also stressed that awareness programmes and collective action are essential to counter discrimination and uphold human dignity.

The celebration witnessed the participation of clergy, lay leaders, social activists and members of the faithful, making it a significant occasion of reflection and encouragement for continued advocacy on minority rights within the diocese and beyond.
