Mortal remains of Sreenivasan brought home, public viewing at Ernakulam Town Hall

Kochi: The mortal remains of veteran Malayalam actor and filmmaker Sreenivasan were brought to his residence at Udayamperoor on Saturday morning. A public viewing will be held at Ernakulam Town Hall from 1 pm, allowing fans and well wishers to pay their last respects. Funeral rites will be held later.

Sreenivasan passed away at 8.30 am while undergoing treatment. He was being taken to a private hospital for dialysis when his health condition worsened on the way. He was immediately shifted to the Tripunithura Taluk Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

His wife Vimala and close relatives were with him at the time of hospital admission. His sons Vineeth and Dhyan have left for Kochi upon receiving the news.

Soon after his death, several personalities from the film, political and social circles reached the hospital to offer condolences. Screenwriter and actor Renji Panicker, actress Sarayu, producer Anto Joseph, and MLA K Babu were among those who paid tribute.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Cultural Affairs Minister Saji Cherian are in Kochi and are expected to pay their respects to the late actor.

Sreenivasan was one of the most influential figures in Malayalam cinema, known for his sharp writing, memorable performances, and strong social commentary. His passing marks the end of an era in the industry.
