Iran warns of all out war as protests grow and tensions with us rise

Tehran: Iran has issued a strong warning to the United States, saying any move against Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei would lead to an all out war, as nationwide protests continue and tensions between Tehran and Washington deepen.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said the country would respond firmly to any threat against its top leadership. The warning came after sharp criticism of Iran’s rulers by US President Donald Trump and his public messages supporting Iranian protesters.

Protests have spread across several Iranian cities in recent weeks, driven by economic hardship, rising prices and long standing anger over political restrictions. Demonstrations that began over living costs have grown into broader calls against the government.

Human rights groups and international media report that security forces have carried out a harsh crackdown.

Thousands of people are said to have been detained, and activists claim that a large number of protesters have been killed, though Iranian authorities have not confirmed these figures. Internet access has also been restricted in parts of the country to curb the spread of protest messages.

Some protesters have expressed disappointment with the United States, saying they expected stronger action after President Trump openly encouraged them to continue demonstrating. However, there has been no confirmation of any direct US military involvement or plans to intervene.

Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has accused foreign powers of trying to destabilize Iran and described US statements as interference in the country’s internal affairs. Iranian officials insist that the protests are being fueled by external enemies, a claim rejected by opposition groups.

The situation remains tense, with fears that stronger rhetoric on both sides could further escalate the crisis. For now, the protests continue despite the crackdown, while the international community watches closely for any signs of wider conflict.
