Taipei: Nvidia’s Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang has publicly dismissed recent speculation that he is unhappy with artificial intelligence developer OpenAI, reaffirming both his admiration for the company and Nvidia’s commitment to making a substantial financial investment, according to media sources.
Addressing reporters in Taipei on Saturday, Huang described reports of discord with OpenAI as “nonsense,” stressing that Nvidia remains a steadfast supporter of the AI research organization and its leadership, including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. While acknowledging that discussions about the scale and structure of a proposed investment have been evolving, Huang emphasized that Nvidia plans to participate in OpenAI’s ongoing fundraising efforts and will make what is expected to be one of the company’s largest investments to date.
The remarks come amid widespread attention on a previously announced but not yet finalized plan for Nvidia to invest up to $100 billion in OpenAI, a deal first disclosed in September 2025 aimed at deepening the two companies’ collaboration on advanced AI computing infrastructure. Though that figure was widely reported, Huang noted privately to industry contacts that the original arrangement was non-binding and not yet concluded, raising questions about the precise scale of the eventual investment.
Despite internal discussions and some reported hesitation within Nvidia over the ambitious size of the deal, Huang stressed his confidence in OpenAI’s work, calling the organization “one of the most consequential companies of our time.” He said Nvidia’s planned investment likely the largest in its history reflects the company’s long-standing partnership with OpenAI, which includes supplying critical AI computing hardware.
OpenAI is reportedly seeking as much as $100 billion in funding, which would place its valuation near $830 billion, and other technology giants are also in discussions to participate. For instance, Amazon is reportedly exploring a potential investment of up to $50 billion in OpenAI as part of the broader funding round.
The evolving nature of Nvidia’s commitment reflects broader shifts across the AI landscape, where companies are rethinking strategic investments, partnerships, and the deployment of capital as competition intensifies within the sector. Huang’s reaffirmation of Nvidia’s support for OpenAI signals continued collaboration at a time when AI infrastructure and talent are increasingly central to technological advancement and market leadership.
