Children’s novel Ammakilliyude Taraattu released in Australia

Melbourne: A new children’s novel titled Ammakilliyude Taraattu written by Fr Dr John Puthuva was released in Australia, marking another effort to promote Malayalam language and reading among young learners abroad.

The book was launched at the Darwin Language Learning Centre in Melbourne. During the function, Fr Jaxon Jacob handed over the first copy of the book to Rajesh Nair, the principal of the Malayalam language centre.

Teachers, students and parents from the Malayalam division of the centre attended the event. Community members also spoke about the importance of encouraging children to read in their mother tongue and to stay connected with their cultural roots.

Speaking at the programme, the author said the novel was written specially for children and aims to be both enjoyable and meaningful. He added that this is his third work in the children’s literature category.

The release of Ammakilliyude Taraattu was welcomed by the Malayalam community in Australia as a positive step towards nurturing language skills and literary interest among the younger generation.
