Harare: The Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced a cash reward of Rs 7.5 crore for the Indian under 19 men’s cricket team after their title winning performance at the ICC Under 19 Men’s Cricket World Cup.
India lifted the trophy after a dominant win over England in the final played in Harare. Batting first India posted a massive total of 411 for nine. Young batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi played a standout knock, scoring 175 runs and setting up the match firmly in India’s favour. England were later bowled out for 311, giving India a convincing 100 run victory.
The BCCI said the reward is meant to recognise the efforts of the players, coaching staff and support team who played a role in the successful campaign. The Indian team remained unbeaten throughout the tournament, showing strong performances in both batting and bowling.
This cash prize has been announced by the BCCI independently. The International Cricket Council does not offer official prize money for the under 19 World Cup, as the tournament mainly focuses on player development and exposure at the international level.
With this win, India have now secured their sixth under 19 World Cup title, further strengthening the country’s reputation as a strong nursery for future international cricketers. The victory has drawn praise from across the cricketing world, with former players and fans celebrating the achievements of the young champions.
