Socially committed youth key to strong communities says KCYM Mananthavady Diocese

NilgiriStating that young people are the driving force and strength of society, the KCYM Mananthavady Diocese formally launched its 2026 working year with a vision focused on social commitment and community building.

The inauguration marked the release of the diocesan guideline that outlines programmes and activities planned for the year ahead. The initiatives aim to ensure active youth participation in strengthening society through service oriented and value based actions.

The inaugural meeting was held under the leadership of diocesan president Nikhil Choodiyankal. The ceremony was inaugurated by Sebastian Palamparambil, diocesan director of KLM, who also released the activity guideline. In his address, he called upon young people to move forward with strong social responsibility and to become pillars of their communities.

As part of the event, the logo of the Idam project was unveiled by Joseph Erathel, a representative of the migrant community. The project seeks to create new spaces for young people within the Church and society. The diocesan level launch of a palliative care support initiative, envisioned as an expression of the dioceses compassionate outreach, was also held during the programme.

An introductory address was delivered by Fr Santo Ambalathara, diocesan director. Fr Georgekutty Kannippilly, director of the Nilgiri region, and regional president Dion Shaiju Palakunnel extended their greetings. A social security awareness session for youth was also organized as part of the gathering.

The programme began with a welcome address by diocesan general secretary Robin Biju Vadakkekara, while secretary Divya Pattasheril proposed the vote of thanks. Representatives from various regions and units of the diocese, along with diocesan office bearers and syndicate members, took part in the event, marking a confident beginning to the new working year.
