Bengaluru: Seven people lost their lives in a tragic road accident near Bengaluru early Friday morning after a speeding car lost control and rammed into a motorcycle and a truck on the Satellite Town Ring Road in Bengaluru Rural district.
The accident happened around 5.30 am near M. Satyavara village on the Hoskote–Dabaspete stretch. Police said a Mahindra XUV travelling at high speed first hit a motorcycle moving ahead of it. The driver then lost control and crashed into a goods truck coming from the opposite direction, leading to a chain collision. Another vehicle behind reportedly struck the wreckage, worsening the impact.
Six people travelling in the car died on the spot due to the severity of the crash. The motorcyclist also died from fatal injuries. Authorities confirmed that two of the victims were Malayali youths studying and working in Bengaluru. Reports suggest the group in the car were college students returning after a night outing.
Local residents and emergency responders rushed to the scene and assisted in rescue efforts. The bodies were shifted to Hoskote Government Hospital for post mortem procedures.
Police have registered a case and begun an investigation into the incident. Preliminary findings indicate overspeeding and loss of control as the likely cause of the crash.
The accident has once again raised concerns about speeding and road safety on high speed stretches around Bengaluru.
