Lent invites us to return to God with sincere hearts and to turn away from the habits and choices that lead us away from His love. Sin often begins in small and unnoticed ways, yet it gradually distances us from God and weakens our relationship with others. This holy season calls us to examine our conscience and recognize the areas of our lives that need healing and renewal.
Turning away from sin is not only about avoiding wrongdoing; it is about choosing what is good and life-giving. When we forgive instead of holding grudges, speak kindly instead of harshly, and show compassion instead of indifference, we begin to walk in the light of Christ. Every small decision for goodness restores peace within us and strengthens our bond with God.
This journey requires humility. We acknowledge our weaknesses and seek God’s mercy through repentance and prayer, trusting that He never turns away from a repentant heart. As the prophet assures us, “Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love” (Joel 2:13). His mercy gives us the courage to begin again.
Today, let us choose life by rejecting sin and embracing goodness in thought, word, and action. Even the smallest step toward righteousness draws us closer to God and fills our hearts with peace.
