India and Israel strengthen strategic ties amid Middle East tensions

Jerusalem: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Israel on Tuesday for a two day official visit aimed at strengthening strategic ties and expanding cooperation in defence, technology and innovation. The visit comes at a time of rising tensions in the Middle East, particularly between the United States and Iran, raising concerns about regional security.

Modi is scheduled to hold talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu focusing on defence cooperation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and high technology partnerships. Israel remains one of India’s key defence partners, and both countries are expected to explore ways to deepen collaboration in security and military technology.

Officials said discussions will also cover cooperation in agriculture, water management and innovation sectors where Israeli expertise has supported development projects in India. The two leaders are expected to review progress in bilateral projects and explore new opportunities for economic cooperation.

The visit takes place amid growing regional tensions and increased military activity in the Middle East. Israel considers Iran a major security threat, while India has maintained diplomatic ties with both countries and continues to call for stability and dialogue in the region.

Modi’s trip also reflects the strong relationship between the two leaders and the growing partnership between the two nations. His 2017 visit to Israel was the first by an Indian prime minister and marked a turning point in bilateral relations.

Before departing, Modi said the visit aims to consolidate relations based on shared democratic values and mutual interests. Analysts say the outcome of the talks could lead to new agreements in defence technology, innovation and economic cooperation.

Observers will be watching closely for joint statements on regional security and announcements of new partnerships as India and Israel deepen their strategic relationship during a period of global uncertainty.
