Malabo: Catholic bishops in Equatorial Guinea have welcomed the planned visit of Pope Leo XIV, describing it as a special moment of grace and a call for spiritual renewal among the faithful.
In a message to Catholics across the country, the bishops said the visit offers an opportunity to deepen faith, strengthen unity and renew commitment to Christian values. They encouraged believers to prepare through prayer and reflection so that the pope’s presence may bring lasting spiritual fruits to families, parishes and communities.
The Church leaders explained that the visit is not only a ceremonial event but also a pastoral encounter that invites conversion, reconciliation and renewed witness to the Gospel in everyday life. They urged clergy, religious and lay faithful to work together in promoting peace, justice and solidarity in society.
The bishops also noted that the papal visit highlights the importance of Africa in the life of the universal Church and affirms the vitality of Catholic faith on the continent. They expressed hope that the visit will inspire evangelization, strengthen moral values and foster national unity.
Pope Leo XIV is expected to visit Equatorial Guinea as part of his broader pastoral journey to Africa in April. Catholics throughout the country are being encouraged to take part actively in the preparations and to welcome the visit as a historic moment of grace and renewal.
