France and China seek joint effort to ease Iran conflict

Paris: France has said it will work closely with China to reduce tensions in the growing conflict involving Iran, as international concern rises over the risk of a wider war in the Middle East.

French Foreign Minister Jean Noel Barrot held talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Sunday, where both sides agreed that diplomacy must take priority. France said the current situation requires collective action to prevent further violence and protect regional and global stability.

The French government stressed that it is not directly involved in the recent military strikes carried out by the United States and Israel against Iran. At the same time, Paris said Iran’s actions and refusal to engage in broader negotiations have contributed to the escalation.

China has called for an immediate ceasefire and urged all sides to return to dialogue. Beijing has repeatedly said that disputes should be resolved through political solutions and respect for international law. Chinese officials have also warned against the use of military force that could further destabilize the region.

The diplomatic push comes as tensions remain high following a series of attacks and counter attacks between Iran and its opponents. Several countries have expressed concern that the conflict could spread beyond its current boundaries.

France has also indicated that it is ready to support Gulf nations if they face direct threats, based on international law and collective security principles. Meanwhile, global oil prices have risen sharply due to fears of supply disruptions, and some international airlines have suspended flights to parts of the Middle East for safety reasons.

The United Nations Security Council has met to discuss the crisis, with several member states calling for urgent steps to prevent further escalation.

As the situation develops, France and China say they will continue consultations and encourage all parties to return to negotiations in an effort to restore calm and avoid a broader regional war.
