Iranian airstrike in Kuwait kills 11 year old girl and injures four family members

Kuwait City: An 11 year old girl was killed and four members of her family were injured after debris from an Iranian airstrike struck a residential area in Kuwait, according to local authorities and media reports.

The girl had been seriously injured when shrapnel fell on her home during the attack. She was taken to hospital but later died from her injuries. The incident has become one of the first civilian deaths reported in Kuwait since the latest escalation of tensions in the Middle East.

Officials said the attack was part of a series of missile and drone strikes launched by Iran across the Gulf region. Air defence systems in Kuwait intercepted several incoming projectiles, but falling debris from the interceptions caused damage in civilian areas.

The explosion damaged buildings in the neighbourhood and injured members of the girl’s family who were inside the house at the time. Emergency services rushed the injured to hospital and security forces sealed off the affected area.

Authorities also reported that dozens of people in Kuwait have been injured in recent days due to debris from intercepted missiles and drones. Earlier this week two Kuwaiti military personnel were killed during attacks linked to the same escalation.

The strike on Kuwait comes as tensions in the Middle East continue to rise following recent military actions involving Iran, the United States and Israel. Iran has launched retaliatory attacks targeting military bases and strategic facilities across several Gulf countries.

Governments across the region have increased security measures and strengthened air defence systems as the conflict shows signs of widening. Officials have also urged residents to remain cautious as the situation continues to develop.
