India beat England in thriller to reach T20 World Cup final

Mumbai: India secured a dramatic victory over England by seven runs in the semi final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 and advanced to the final of the tournament. The high scoring match was played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday and kept fans on the edge of their seats until the final over.

After winning the toss, England chose to bowl first. India made full use of the batting conditions and posted a massive total of 253 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their 20 overs. Sanju Samson led the Indian batting with a powerful innings of 89 runs from 42 balls. His aggressive stroke play helped India build a strong foundation for a big total. Other Indian batters also added quick runs, pushing the score well past the 250 mark.

England started their chase with determination and showed strong intent throughout the innings. Young batter Jacob Bethell played a remarkable innings and scored 105 runs from 48 balls. His century kept England in the contest and raised hopes of a memorable chase.

However, the Indian bowlers managed to stay calm during the final overs. Hardik Pandya played an important role with the ball and took two crucial wickets while keeping the scoring under control in the closing stages of the match.

England finished their innings at 246 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs, falling short of the target by seven runs. The narrow victory sent India into the final of the T20 World Cup.

India will now face New Zealand in the final scheduled to be played on March 8 as the team looks to lift the T20 World Cup title.
