Kyiv: Ukraine’s air defense forces reported a significant success in countering one of the largest coordinated aerial assaults by Russia in recent months, claiming to have intercepted or neutralized 31 missiles and 636 drones within a 24-hour period.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, a total of 703 aerial threats including both missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles were launched by Russian forces in two major waves of attacks across the country. The strikes combined ground-launched and air-launched systems, underscoring the scale and complexity of Moscow’s evolving aerial campaign.
Military officials stated that Ukrainian air defense systems were able to destroy or disable the majority of incoming threats, highlighting the growing efficiency of Kyiv’s defensive network amid continued Western support and technological upgrades.
The assault forms part of a broader escalation in Russia’s strategy, which has increasingly relied on mass drone deployments alongside missile strikes to overwhelm Ukrainian defenses.
