Pope Leo visits hospital patients in Douala during Cameroon trip

Douala:  Pope Leo XIV made a quiet and compassionate visit to St Paul Catholic Hospital in Douala after celebrating Holy Mass, offering comfort to patients, their families and hospital staff during his Apostolic Journey to Cameroon.

The visit, which was part of his official programme, began with a moment of silent prayer in the hospital chapel. Pope then moved to the courtyard, where he greeted staff members and a few patients, sharing brief but meaningful interactions.

During the visit,Pope expressed his hope that his presence would bring consolation to those suffering and encouraged them with his blessing. He also prayed the Our Father together with those gathered, creating a moment of unity and spiritual strength.

Pope Leo later visited patients in their rooms, giving special attention to children and the elderly. His gestures of closeness and care brought visible comfort to many who are undergoing treatment.

After completing the visit, Pope departed for the airport and returned to Yaoundé. He is scheduled to meet university students and professors later in the day at the Catholic University of Central Africa.

The following day, Pope Leo will celebrate Mass at Yaoundé Ville Airport before continuing his journey to Angola, marking the next stage of his visit to Africa.
