Pope Leo visits technology school named after Pope Francis in Equatorial Guinea

Mongomo: Pope Leo XIV made a brief visit to  Pope Francis Technology School in the eastern city of Mongomo on Wednesday, marking a meaningful moment during his final full day in Equatorial Guinea.

The visit came just one day after the first anniversary of the passing of Pope Francis, in whose memory the school was established. The institution focuses on providing technological and vocational training, helping young people gain practical skills for employment and future opportunities.

During his time in Mongomo, Pope Leo also celebrated Mass at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, drawing local faithful for prayer and reflection.

Pope’s schedule for the day includes meetings with prisoners and young people, highlighting his continued focus on outreach and engagement with different sections of society.

On Thursday, Pope Leo XIV is expected to celebrate his final Mass in the country before concluding his 11 day Apostolic Journey across four African nations and returning to Rome.

The visit to the technology school reflects the Church’s ongoing commitment to education and youth development, especially in regions where access to technical training remains limited.
