Weather authorities have cautioned that these regions may emerge as the hottest pockets in the state as heat levels climb well above normal.
According to the India Meteorological Department, maximum temperatures in Palakkad could approach or even cross 40 degrees Celsius, while Kollam may witness temperatures nearing 39 degrees Celsius. These figures are expected to remain significantly above the seasonal average, pointing to a period of unusually harsh summer weather.
Meteorologists attribute the rising heat to a combination of intense solar radiation and persistent humidity, which together are pushing up the “feels-like” temperature across Kerala. Even in areas where the recorded temperature appears slightly lower, the high moisture content in the air is making conditions far more uncomfortable for residents.
The situation is particularly concerning for vulnerable sections of the population, including the elderly, children, and those engaged in outdoor labor.
