Thiruvanathapuram: The Kerala State Lottery Department on Saturday announced the results of the much awaited Vishu Bumper lottery draw, with the first prize of Rs 12 crore going to ticket number VB 135452 sold in Karunagappally in Kollam district. The announcement brought excitement across the state as thousands of people eagerly checked their tickets after the official draw held at Gorky Bhavan in Thiruvananthapuram.
According to lottery department officials, the winning ticket was distributed through agent Anil D under agency number Q 4301. Soon after the result was declared, celebrations began in Karunagappally as local residents gathered to discuss the winning news. However, the identity of the lucky winner had not been officially confirmed by Saturday evening.
The Vishu Bumper lottery is one of the most popular seasonal lotteries conducted by the Kerala government. Every year, lakhs of people purchase tickets hoping to win life changing prize money. This year too, there was massive public participation. Reports said more than 54 lakh tickets were sold across the state, generating sales worth over Rs 126 crore. Each ticket was priced at Rs 300.
The draw started at 2 pm in the presence of senior lottery department officials and representatives from various departments. People across Kerala followed the event through television channels, online platforms and social media updates. Lottery result websites also experienced heavy traffic soon after the winning numbers were announced.
Apart from the first prize winner, several others also won major cash prizes. The second prize of Rs 1 crore each went to six ticket holders from different series. The winning ticket numbers for the second prize were VA 616453, VB 327020, VC 348224, VD 252972, VE 649598 and VG 367998.
The third prize of Rs 10 lakh each was awarded to ticket numbers VA 238131, VB 149470, VC 133511, VD 575123, VE 363410 and VG 480536.
The lottery department also announced consolation prizes of Rs 1 lakh each for tickets carrying the same number in other series including VA 135452, VC 135452, VD 135452, VE 135452 and VG 135452.
Officials reminded prize winners to carefully verify their ticket numbers with the official Kerala Lottery Department gazette before claiming the prize money. Winners of prizes above Rs 1 lakh must submit the original winning ticket along with valid identity proof, passport size photographs, PAN card details and bank account information before the Director of State Lotteries within 90 days from the date of the draw.
Financial experts noted that the final amount received by the first prize winner would be lower after mandatory tax deductions and other charges. According to estimates, the winner may receive around Rs 8.4 crore after deductions.
The Vishu Bumper lottery has become one of the biggest state run lottery events in India over the years. Earlier editions offered smaller jackpot amounts, but the prize money has steadily increased because of rising ticket sales and growing public interest. The bumper draw continues to attract people from different walks of life who see it as a rare chance to change their financial future.
