“Do not judge, so that you may not be judged. For with the judgment, you make you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get. Mathew 7:1-2
One day, a teacher entered his classroom and told the students to prepare for a surprise test. The students were vexed without knowing the portion of the test. With no further explanation, the teacher handed out the question paper with the text facing down. He then told the students to turn over the papers.
To everyone’s surprise, there were no questions but just a black dot in the center of the paper.
The teacher, seeing the expression on everyone’s faces, told them, “I want you to write about what you see on the paper.” The students were confused, but they had to finish the task.
When everyone finished, the teacher collected all the answer sheets, and started reading out each one of them loud in front of the students. All of them, with no exception, defined the black dot.
After reading the answer sheets, the professor started to explain, “This test was not to grade you, but I just wanted to make you think about a general human habit. It is a fact that even though the major share of the paper is white, no one wrote about the white part of the paper. Everyone focused on the black dot. This is the way we judge things in life.
Though our life is filled with blessings, our focus will be on the black dots – the health issues, the money matters, the complications in relationships, the shortcomings in life etc. In the matter of judging others also, our approach will be the same.
The dark spots are very small when compared to the blessings we receive and received in our lives. If we take our eyes away from the black dots of our lives, and the people around, we will be able to enjoy the blessings and moments that God shower upon us in our life each day. “Be happy and be positive and live a life filled with love!”
“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace.” Numbers 6: 24-26
