India's concern to end war with Ukraine understandable: Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to end the war with Ukraine.

Putin said this in response to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statement during the Shanghai summit that this is not the time for wars.

During the meeting in Samarkand, Modi said that this is not a good time for the Russia-Ukraine war.

Putin replied that he wants the eight-month war to end as soon as possible.

Putin said that he can understand India's concern about the war going forward. Bilateral relations and global and regional issues were discussed in the discussion between the two leaders.

It was the first meeting between the two leaders eight months after Russia started the war in Ukraine.

Although India has not yet criticized the Russian invasion, India has suggested that the Ukraine problems should be resolved through dialogue.

Issues related to increasing trade, energy supply etc. were discussed at the summit.

During the summit, Prime Minister Modi held meetings with Putin and Uzbek President Mirziyoyev.

At the summit, Modi said that the Indian economy is expected to grow by 7.5 % and India will become the largest economy in the world.

In his speech in Uzbek, the Prime Minister also said that India is becoming a manufacturing hub.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Russian President Vladimir Putin met on the second day of the Shanghai Summit.
