Twenty20 World Cup in Australia today; Seven venues, 16 teams, 45 matches

Australia: Twenty-20 World Cup started today in Australia. Qualifying round matches between West Indies and Sri Lanka began now. India-Pakistan matche on October 23rd. 16 teams are competing for the world title on Australian soil. Four teams will reach the Super Twelve from the eight-team group stage.

The winner will take home a whopping prize money of USD 1.6 million. The eight teams who exit at the Super 12 stage will receive USD 70,000 each. A win in each of the 30 games in the Super 12 phase will be worth USD 40,000.

Overall, a sum of $5.6 million will be allocated for the tournament which will be shared by all the 16 participating teams.
