Chinese woman disguised as monk arrested; investigated for espionage

New Delhi: A Chinese woman has been arrested in Delhi yesterday evening on suspicion of espionage. According to the police, the Tibetan refugee, posing as a Buddhist monk from Nepal, was staying in the settlement and spying.

The identity documents mentioned dolma lama and address in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. However, the Delhi Police said her real name was Kairuo. She hails from Hainan province in China.

She was caught at the end of the search conducted on the basis of secret information received by the police and found carrying fake identity cards. It is suspected that she carried out espionage by trapping many officers

Majnu Ka Tila, a Tibetan refugee colony, is located near the North Campus of Delhi University. This area is very popular with tourists. It has been found that she arrived in India in 2019.

The police have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Foreigners Act. The woman, who was produced in the court, has been remanded in police custody for 14 days. But the Delhi Police said that they are not cooperating with the interrogation.
