He will also address various groups, including authorities, civil society, young people, and representatives of the academic and cultural world. Over half of Hungarians are Christian, with at least 37 percent identifying as Catholic.

This will be Pope Francis' 41st Apostolic Journey abroad.

More than half of Hungarians are Christian, with at least 37% of the population identifying as Catholic.

Cardinal Erdo welcomes Pope Francis to Hungary
Cardinal Peter Erdo, the Archbishop of Esztergom-Budapest, expressed his joy and expectations for the papal journey in an interview with Vatican News, also noting the significance of the pope's return to Hungarian territory.

The war in Ukraine will also be important during the trip, with Hungary having helped more than one million Ukrainian nationals who have travelled through the country as refugees.

The country has faced the challenge of providing humanitarian aid, including organising spontaneous help from the faithful and integrating refugees into Hungarian society.
