New Delhi : China announced that it has renamed further places in the region, claiming that they are part of South Tibet. The development comes just a week after India held a G20 meeting in AP that China chose to skip.
India has strongly objected to China's move, calling it a "provocative" action. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs stated that "renaming or inventing names of states of your neighbour does not make illegal occupation legal."
This is not the first time China has renamed places in Arunachal Pradesh. In 2017, China renamed six places in the region, which was also strongly condemned by India.
The territorial dispute between China and India over Arunachal Pradesh remains unresolved, and the recent renaming of places by China is likely to further escalate tensions between the two countries.
