Bhubaneswar- The investigation into the triple train accident in Odisha's Balasore district, which resulted in the tragic loss of 292 lives, has taken a new turn.
Recently, the rented residence of a Junior Engineer (JE) responsible for railway signaling was sealed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). This action was carried out as a part of their ongoing probe into the incident.
According to sources, the Junior Engineer (JE) in charge of railway signaling, along with his family, has been reported missing from their rented house since the Bahanaga train accident on June 2.
CBI is actively investigating the incident to determine the factors contributing to the tragic accident, had previously interrogated the JE.
However, the location of the questioning remains undisclosed.
CBI investigating the Balasore train accident returned from the location on June 19. However, a group of team members revisited the scene on Monday to seal the rented house of the Junior Engineer.
It is noteworthy that the tragic incident, which involved a collision between two passenger trains and a goods train on June 2, resulted in the unfortunate demise of 292 individuals and left over 1100 people injured.
Railway officials have informed that Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw proceeded towards Puri to assess the preparations made at the Puri railway station for the renowned Car Festival (Rath Yatra) that evening.
On the following day, the minister will visit the Rath Yatra venue and then proceed to Bahanaga Bazar in Balasore to engage with the local residents affected by the triple train accident.
Additionally, he will visit the Balasore District Hospital to meet with hospital officials and district administration. Furthermore, Vaishnaw will inspect and evaluate the progress made at the Balasore railway station.
