Dubai Municipality Closes Parks and Night Swimming Amid Weather Concerns

In response to the weekend's weather conditions in the emirate, the Dubai Municipality has taken proactive measures to ensure the safety and well-being of residents and visitors.

Effective from Sunday, August 6 at 6pm, the Dubai Municipality has announced the temporary closure of all public parks across the city. Additionally, night swimming at public beaches will also be suspended, starting from Sunday, August 6 at 7pm.

The decision comes amidst a period of heightened weather alerts in Dubai, with rainfall being experienced in the country. The municipality utilized social media platforms to communicate these changes, emphasizing their commitment to public safety. They stated, "Dubai Municipality announces the temporary closure of Public Parks starting from 6pm today [Sunday], as a safety measure due to the prevailing weather conditions in #Dubai. Stay safe."

Furthermore, the municipality addressed the suspension of night swimming at beaches, noting, "To ensure safety amidst the prevailing weather fluctuations, #DubaiMunicipality announces the temporary closure of #Dubai night swimming beaches, starting from 7:00 PM today. Your safety is our priority."

These precautionary steps are intended to address potential challenges arising from adverse weather conditions and prioritize public health. While Dubai offers a variety of outdoor recreational options, such as parks and beaches, the municipality's decision aligns with the need for heightened safety measures during the summer months, characterized by high temperatures and occasionally unpredictable weather.

It is important to note that the closure of parks and suspension of night swimming will remain in effect until further notice from the Dubai Municipality or until the weather conditions stabilize. Beaches, however, will continue to remain accessible during daytime hours.
