World Record: Over 7,000 Kerala Women Participate in Thiruvathira Dance Performance

Trichur - Kerala's all-women organization, known as Kudumbashree, holds the distinction of being the world's largest women's organization. Kudumbashree is dedicated to empowering women from diverse backgrounds, both in rural and urban areas of Kerala. On August 30, 2023, they achieved a remarkable feat as over 7,027 women came together to perform the traditional Thiruvathira dance.

Thiruvathira is a renowned group dance form in Kerala, traditionally performed during the Onam festival. The mesmerizing performance, lasting for 10 minutes, captivated a packed audience and took place on the grounds of Kuttanellur Government College in Thrissur, Kerala.

This remarkable achievement has already earned a place in both the Limca Book of World Records and the Talent World Records due to its record-breaking number of participants. The Kudumbashree representatives received the certificate from Talent World Records officials immediately following the performance, while the Limca Records certificate will be awarded later. The organization now aims to secure a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.

During the event's inauguration, Kerala's Revenue Minister K. Rajan praised the participants and highlighted that Kudumbashree, as the world's largest women's network, serves as an exemplary model for women's empowerment.
