New Delhi - The Congress party, in conjunction with several other opposition parties, censured the Indian government for abstaining from voting on the UN resolution regarding Gaza. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra expressed profound dismay and embarrassment regarding India's decision, contending that it contradicts the foundational principles of non-violence and truth that India upholds. The BJP defended its stance, asserting that the resolution failed to address Hamas' acts of brutality, and reaffirmed India's commitment to not supporting terrorism. Opposition parties alleged that the Modi government was aligning itself with US imperialism and further solidifying the US-Israel-India partnership.
Accompanied by various opposition parties, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra of the Congress expressed her profound dismay and embarrassment on Saturday regarding New Delhi's choice to abstain from participating in the UN resolution concerning Gaza. She remarked, "It is disheartening to witness our country refrain from taking a clear stance while observing the relentless violation of every humanitarian principle, as essential necessities such as food, water, medical supplies, communication, and power are disrupted, resulting in the tragic loss of lives in Palestine. This contradicts the core values that our nation has always upheld."
Sharad Pawar of the NCP voiced his concerns, highlighting a lack of clarity and unity between the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister on this matter. He pointed out that their statements conveyed differing perspectives.
