The victims included six women aged between 26 and 32 and nine men aged between 26 and 52. A witness reported to local media that the shooting occurred shortly after 1 a.m. when a fight broke out, and the alleged shooter was denied re-entry into the party.

"He came back and put his arm through the door and started shooting," said Andre Williams.

Law enforcement arrested a male suspect who was attempting to flee the scene on foot while carrying a handgun. The investigation is ongoing.

Earlier on Saturday, four people were injured in a drive-by mass shooting as they were leaving a gathering. In another shooting in the city, a man was fatally wounded. Chicago faces a higher rate of firearm homicides compared to other major U.S. cities.
