Kerala's Jose Ellickal and Maharashtra's Trupti Chavan Secure Victory in Kochi Marathon 2023

Kochi - Jose Ellickal from Wayanad and Trupti Katkar Chavan from Maharashtra clinched the top spots in the men's and women's categories at the Ageas Federal Life Insurance Kochi Spice Coast Marathon 2023 on Sunday.

Jose Ellickal strategically planned his run and took an early lead in the men's race, successfully fending off all challengers to finish in 03:02:55. Benson CB secured the second position with a time of 03:05:34, and Sujith TR came in third, clocking 03:14:33.

In the women's full marathon, Trupti Katkar Chavan from Maharashtra claimed victory, maintaining a dominant lead throughout. She completed the marathon in 04:31:55. Shyma IK secured the second spot with a time of 05:02:09, and Shinomol Palathana finished in third place, with a time of 05:09:33.

The Ageas Federal Life Insurance Kochi Spice Coast Marathon, organized by Soles of India, is recognized for its commitment to environmental sustainability by focusing on reducing, recycling, reusing, and repurposing waste.

During the event's inauguration, cricket superstar Sachin Tendulkar, Brand Ambassador of Ageas Federal Life Insurance, praised the organizers and sponsors for their environmental initiatives, emphasizing the scenic beauty of the marathon. The event saw nearly 7,000 participants across various age groups, all determined to "Run Ageless, Run Fearless."

Vighnesh Shahane, MD & CEO of Ageas Federal Life Insurance, highlighted the company's commitment to a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future. He mentioned that 6,000 trees were planted on behalf of the marathon this year.

The Half-Marathons were closely contested, with Sajith KM winning the Men's title in 01:21:49, and Rema AK securing the Women's title in 02:01:25. David Cowlishaw (01:25:26) and Athul Raj (01:27:40) were the runners-up in the men's category, while Sreedevi KC (02:07:41) and Zoja Ziya (02:11:18) claimed second and third places among women.
