New Delhi - Following the issuance of summons by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has alleged that the Central government aims to dismantle the party by subjecting its national convener to legal action.
In response to the ED's summons, AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj, who is also a Delhi Minister, expressed, "Now we have come to know that Chief Minister Kejriwal has been summoned by the ED. It makes clear that the sole objective of the Central government is to obliterate AAP through any means necessary. They are leaving no stone unturned, registering false cases with the intent of imprisoning Kejriwal and eradicating the AAP."
On the other hand, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has welcomed the ED's summons, asserting that Kejriwal must now provide an explanation regarding the changes made in the liquor excise policy and the individuals who received the seven percent commission.
Delhi BJP Chief Virendra Sachdeva remarked that Kejriwal, who presents himself as an "honest person," is being exposed as allegations of misconduct emerge. He emphasized that Kejriwal has been summoned for questioning in the alleged liquor policy case on November 2.
The Supreme Court has also weighed in, rejecting the bail plea of former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in connection with the alleged Delhi liquor policy scam. The court directed that Sisodia's trial should be concluded within six to eight months, adding that if the trial proceeds slowly, Sisodia can reapply for bail within three months.
Justice Khanna, while delivering the verdict, mentioned that even though many questions remain unanswered, one aspect pertaining to the transfer of Rs 338 crore appears to be tentatively established.
