Pope Francis to Lead '24 Hours for the Lord' Prayer Service

Pope Francis is set to lead the opening of the annual '24 Hours for the Lord' prayer service on March 8 at the Roman parish of San Pio V. This initiative, initiated by Pope at the beginning of his papacy, is dedicated to prayer and reconciliation and will focus on the theme "Walking in a New Life" from Romans chapter 6.

Scheduled on the eve of the fourth Sunday of Lent, this event encourages dioceses worldwide to engage in prayer and reconciliation. Pope will begin the service at 4:30 pm, providing an opportunity for the faithful to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, with Pope Francis himself hearing confessions.

Additionally, churches are encouraged to remain open for extended hours on Friday and throughout Saturday for confession and adoration. Pope Francis has chosen a different church within Rome each year to preside over this event, aiming to foster parish involvement.

The Dicastery for Evangelization is urging dioceses and parishes globally to participate in this moment of prayer and forgiveness. They have provided resources to aid in personal and communal prayer leading up to the event, aligning with Pope Francis's declared Year of Prayer.
