New Delhi: Indian bowlers commanded massive attention in the second round of the IPL 2025 Auction, with Yuzvendra Chahal (INR 18 crore), Mohammed Siraj (INR 12.25 crore), and Mohammed Shami (INR 10 crore) securing lucrative deals. Among the batters, KL Rahul emerged as a marquee signing, joining the Delhi Capitals for INR 14 crore after an intense bidding battle.
The auction for Rahul began with Kolkata Knight Riders initiating the bidding, followed swiftly by a counter from Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). RCB pushed the price to INR 11 crore before stepping out, paving the way for Delhi Capitals to enter. As the stakes rose, KKR also exited at INR 12.25 crore, seemingly leaving Rahul’s signature to the Capitals.
However, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) made a dramatic late entry, briefly escalating the bidding before withdrawing at INR 14 crore. Rahul’s former team, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), chose not to exercise their Right to Match (RTM) option, solidifying the Capitals’ acquisition of the star batter, who is expected to assume a leadership role in the absence of Rishabh Pant.
In the same set, Mohammed Shami became the center of another bidding war. Kolkata Knight Riders opened the contest at INR 2 crore, with Chennai Super Kings aggressively countering. The duel continued until CSK pulled out at INR 8.25 crore. LSG, buoyed by their record-breaking acquisition of Rishabh Pant for INR 27 crore, briefly entered the fray, raising the price to INR 9.5 crore before stepping back. Just as KKR appeared poised to secure Shami, Sunrisers Hyderabad made a surprise entry, escalating the bid to INR 10 crore. KKR eventually withdrew, and Shami went to Sunrisers as Gujarat Titans declined their RTM option.
Yuzvendra Chahal sparked one of the most intense bidding wars of the auction. Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants vied for the star spinner, with LSG stepping back at INR 14 crore. RCB, Chahal’s former team, briefly entered the bidding at INR 14.75 crore before withdrawing. Sunrisers Hyderabad then joined the battle, but Punjab Kings remained unwavering, ultimately signing Chahal for a whopping INR 18 crore.
Mohammed Siraj also attracted fierce competition, eventually being signed by Gujarat Titans for INR 12.25 crore. The Titans fended off bids from Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals, and Sunrisers Hyderabad to secure Siraj, who will now bolster their pace attack alongside India teammate Arshdeep Singh.
