Pope’s clinical condition showing slight improvement

A statement from the Holy See Press Office shared with journalists indicates a modest improvement in Pope Francis’ health. Throughout the day, he partook in the Eucharist and engaged in some work.

"The Holy Father’s clinical condition has shown slight progress. He remains fever-free, with stable hemodynamic parameters. This morning, he received the Eucharist and subsequently attended to work-related matters," the communiqué stated, as released by the Holy See Press Office on Thursday evening.

Pope Francis was admitted to Rome’s Agostino Gemelli Hospital on Friday, February 14, after experiencing bronchitis. Further medical examinations led to a diagnosis of double pneumonia, prompting an adjustment to his medication regimen.

Responding to journalists' inquiries on Thursday evening, Matteo Bruni, director of the Holy See Press Office, clarified that the Pope has “focal pneumonia,” meaning the infection is confined to specific lung areas rather than being widespread. He assured that the Pope breathes independently and that his heart remains stable.

Regular health updates, issued twice daily, indicate that the Pope sleeps well at night, adheres to his treatment, and gets out of bed each morning to have breakfast.
