Children Send Love and Prayers to Pope Francis as He Recovers in Hospital

Pope Francis has been showered with love and prayers from schoolchildren in Rome as he continues his recovery at Gemelli Hospital. Dozens of heartfelt letters, colorful drawings, and creative greetings have poured in, expressing their deep affection and wishes for his speedy recovery.

"Dear Pope, I hope you get well soon so I can hug you. I love you so much," one child wrote in a touching letter. Another message read, "I love you very much and we hope you get out of the hospital soon." Some children also included beautiful illustrations, such as a drawing of Blessed Carlo Acutis and a 3D rendering of Pope Francis opening the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica.

One particularly sweet note invited the Pope to join them once he regains his strength. "We pray that you get well soon. It would be a great pleasure for us to have lunch with you in our school cafeteria," the letter read.

Pope Francis, 87, was admitted to the hospital on February 14 for tests and treatment for bronchitis. After a week of care, the Vatican announced that he had suffered a respiratory crisis on February 22, requiring a blood transfusion. The Holy See Press Office stated on Sunday that his condition remains "critical" but stable, with no further respiratory crises since Saturday. He continues to receive high-flow oxygen therapy.

Despite his health challenges, Pope Francis remains alert and engaged. On Sunday morning, he joined a Mass at the hospital alongside those caring for him.

The messages from children highlight the deep love and admiration the younger generation holds for pope, offering him warmth and encouragement during this difficult time.
