Pope Francis' Health Remains Critical but Stable, Says Vatican Update

The Holy See Press Office released an update on Tuesday evening regarding Pope Francis’ health, confirming that while his condition remains critical, it is stable. The statement reassured that Pope has not suffered any acute respiratory episodes, and his hemodynamic parameters continue to be stable.

As part of ongoing medical monitoring, Pope underwent a scheduled CT scan in the evening to assess the progress of his bilateral pneumonia. The prognosis remains cautious, with doctors closely monitoring his condition.

Earlier in the day, Pope Francis received the Eucharist and resumed some of his work activities, demonstrating his commitment to his responsibilities despite his illness.

The Vatican has been providing twice-daily updates on Pope’s health since he was admitted to the Agostino Gemelli Hospital in Rome on 14 February. He was initially hospitalized due to bronchitis, which later developed into double pneumonia. In addition, a previous health update noted signs of mild renal insufficiency, though this condition appears to be under control.

A Monday evening statement from the Holy See Press Office noted slight improvements in Pope’s condition. It reported that no asthma-like respiratory distress occurred that day and that some laboratory tests had shown improvement. His mild kidney insufficiency remains under observation but has not raised any concerns. Oxygen therapy continues, but with a slightly reduced flow.

Despite these signs of improvement, doctors remain cautious due to the complexity of Pope’s clinical situation. The Vatican continues to provide regular updates, keeping the faithful informed about Pope’s  health as he undergoes treatment.
