Pope Francis' Health Remains Stable Amid Pneumonia Treatment

Pope Francis continues to receive treatment for bilateral pneumonia at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital, with his condition remaining stable, according to a medical update issued by the Holy See Press Office on Tuesday evening.

The statement confirmed that Pope did not experience any episodes of respiratory insufficiency or bronchospasm throughout the day. His vital signs, including heart, kidney, and blood values, remain stable, and he has not had a fever.

Doctors transitioned Pope to high-flow oxygen therapy in the morning, alongside respiratory physiotherapy. As planned, he was set to resume non-invasive mechanical ventilation overnight, with the prognosis still being carefully monitored.

Despite the complexity of his health condition, Pope Francis remained alert, cooperative with treatment, and spent his day alternating between prayer and rest. He also received the Eucharist in the morning.

Medical experts note that occasional bronchospasms are not uncommon in pneumonia cases, though close observation continues. The Vatican has assured that further updates on his condition will be provided as necessary.
