Suicide Bombers Attack Security Installation in Northwestern Pakistan, Killing 12 Civilians

A deadly suicide bombing struck a security installation in northwestern Pakistan on Tuesday, resulting in the deaths of at least 12 civilians, including seven children, according to police and rescue services.

The attack, carried out by two suicide bombers driving explosive-laden vehicles, caused massive destruction, bringing down the roof of a nearby mosque just after residents had broken their Ramadan fast. The local market, which was bustling with shoppers at the time, was also severely impacted.

A military official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that additional militants attempted to infiltrate the military facility following the explosion but were successfully repelled by security forces. Six militants were killed in the ensuing exchange of fire.

Bannu Hospital spokesperson Muhammad Nauman reported that 30 people were wounded in the attack, all of whom were civilians trapped under collapsed buildings and walls. Rescue teams from local emergency services continued to search for victims beneath the debris. Video footage from the scene showed residents working through the wreckage to clear rubble and locate survivors.

Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the attack, vowing that the "evil ambitions of the enemies of Pakistan will never be allowed to succeed." Ali Amin Gandapur, Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, also denounced the attack and ordered an immediate report from senior police officials.

No group has claimed responsibility for the bombing so far. However, the Pakistani Taliban (TTP) has carried out numerous attacks in recent years, targeting police and military personnel in areas near the Afghan border. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.
