Pope Francis Continues Treatment and Spiritual Exercises from Hospital

Pope Francis had a restful night and continues his treatment and physical therapy at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital, according to a statement released by the Holy See Press Office on Wednesday morning. Pope remains in stable condition, with slight improvements noted by his doctors, although his health situation remains complex.

Despite his hospitalization, Pope  has actively participated in the spiritual exercises of the Roman Curia via video link, as he has done over the past two days. He continues to receive respiratory and mobility-related physical therapy and follows his usual high-flow oxygen therapy throughout the day.

On Tuesday night, the Vatican reported that Pope Francis spent time in prayer, both in his room and in the chapel, where he also received the Eucharist.

Pope Francis was admitted to Gemelli Hospital on 14 February due to bronchitis. While his prognosis is no longer guarded, doctors emphasize that he still requires more time in the hospital for full recovery.

A medical bulletin with further updates on his health is expected later today.

Meanwhile, the usual Wednesday General Audience was not held this week due to the ongoing spiritual exercises of the Roman Curia.
