Pope Francis’ health is showing signs of improvement as he continues treatment at Rome's Gemelli Hospital, according to a medical update released by the Holy See Press Office on Monday evening, March 17.
The statement confirmed that Pope's condition remains stable with slight progress, supported by respiratory and motor therapy. He has been using high-flow oxygen therapy with nasal cannulas less frequently and can, at times, do without it. At night, he continues to receive non-invasive mechanical ventilation.
A noticeable swelling in his hand, which was visible in a recent photograph, has been attributed to reduced mobility but has already begun to improve. Throughout the day, Pope Francis dedicated time to prayer, rest, and some work.
The next detailed medical bulletin is expected on Wednesday, while the Vatican Press Office will provide general updates to journalists on Tuesday evening.
