"Swargam" Garners Acclaim at Kerala Film Critics Awards


The 47th edition of the Kerala Film Critics Awards cast the spotlight on Swargam, the debut venture by CN Global Movies, crowning it as the Best Socially Purposeful Film. The film directed by Rejis Antony was produced by a group of NRI's and projects the essence of family ties and community values against a rural backdrop

Starring talented performers like Aju Varghese, Johny Antony, Ananya, and Manju Pillai, the movie’s narrative brings forth the beauty of familial relationships and societal principles. Released on November 8, 2024 across regions such as Kerala, the Middle East, and parts of Europe, the movie is now streaming on platforms like Amazon Prime, Manorama Max, and Sun NXT.

The production brought together an ensemble of 15 producers hailing from various corners of the globe, including nations like the UAE, Australia, Italy, and Nigeria. This international collaboration highlights the universal resonance of Swargam and the growing global interest in Malayalam cinema.

Alongside Swargam, the awards celebrated other remarkable contributions:

• Best Film: Feminichi Fathima, directed by Fasil Muhammed, took home the top honor. The film was produced by Thamar K.V., Sudheesh, and Fasil Muhammed.
• Best Director: Indu Lakshmi was recognized for her work on Appuram.
• Best Actor: Tovino Thomas won for his performances in Ajayante Randam Moshanam and Anweshippin Kandethum.
• Best Actress: Nazriya Nazim (Sookshmadarshini) and Rima Kallingal (Theatre - The Myth of Reality) shared the award.

The awards also celebrated veteran contributors:
• Lifetime Achievement Award: Vijayakrishnan was honored for his 50 years of contributions to film writing and cinema.
• Ruby Jubilee Award: Jagadeesh received this award for his outstanding contributions to Malayalam cinema.

Other notable awards included:
• Second Best Film: Sookshmadarshini, directed by M.C. Jithin.
• Best Supporting Actor (Male): Saiju Kurup and Arjun Ashokan.
• Best Supporting Actor (Female): Shamla Hamza and Chinnu Chandini.
• Special Jury Awards for Acting Excellence: Jaffer Idukki.
