Rev. Dr Antony Lazar appointed secretary of KCBC Social Harmony and Vigilance Commission

Kochi: Rev. Dr Antony Lazar, a member of the Capuchin Franciscan Order, has been appointed secretary of the KCBC Social Harmony and Vigilance Commission.

Rev. Dr Lazar is known as a philosopher, teacher, film studies researcher and researcher in the field of human migration. He was ordained a priest on November 23, 1999, and has served for more than two decades in pastoral ministry, priestly formation, education and research.

He has pursued higher studies in philosophy, theology, education, communication ethics, and film and philosophy. He holds a PhD in Film and Philosophy from the University of Kerala. His major areas of research include film and philosophy, media and communication, the philosophy of Gilles Deleuze, human migration studies, priestly formation and educational leadership.

He has served as rector of Mary Giri Institute of Philosophy in Kudappanakunnu and as principal of Mary Giri Senior Secondary School. He has also held various responsibilities in pastoral ministry and priestly formation.

Since 2025, he has been serving as director of the Samaritan Academy for Global Migrants (SAGM).

He has presented research papers and delivered lectures at various academic forums in India and abroad, including in the United Kingdom, Italy, the Netherlands and the United Arab Emirates.

He is currently engaged in postdoctoral research focusing on the lives and future of coastal Catholic migrants in Kerala.
